Young girls in rural areas are among the most deprived in our society due to entrenched cultural attitudes and economic hardship that devalues their potential. In general, girls have more limited opportunities to get an education as their parents will often prioritize their daughter's education and wellbeing or may simply not afford paying their education. Consequently many parents choose to marry their daughters early to avoid having to pay for them. Providing scholarship to young girls is more then just giving economic support, it shows the girls that someone cares and believes in them. Giving them the confidence and strength to pursue higher aspirations Hunger free World has been providing scholarship support to the girls of its working areas for five years. Ms. Hiroko Kobayashi, a Japanese old lady along with her some friends who have been inspiring and promoting this scholarship from their own earn. "This is not only a financial support; this is the opportunity to show up their talent to become a self-reliant woman in future. I believe these girls will also provide support to others girls when they will be capable- said Ms. Kobayashi". On 7th of July HFW arranged a money distribution program for the scholarship girls in Kaliganj and Boda. About 45 girls are getting support under the scholarship program. |
