I am Narumi Ishihara. I am a member of Youth Ending Hunger Aichi in Japan & came to Bangladesh to Participate in NYC, and visit some project. I was anxious about going to a foreign country alone. But everyone is a good person and full of life. So I loved Bangladesh immediately. I was very happy that everyone was kind to me. In Boda, I visited a school and looked at the organic farming Training centre. It was great. I asked the children, 'Which subject do you like?' Almost all the children raised their hand to all subjects. I also asked them their dream. They said policeman, teacher, doctor, and politician and so on. I wish they achieve their dreams. In NYC I participated in many programs, especially visiting the village. This made me think. I visited a house in Boda, but it was a different type of house as they don't have much money. However, the house was not really dirty and they looked very happy so I thought 'what can I do to support them, and do they need our support?' This is Bangladesh culture and I don't want to destroy it, but they sure are poor. We shouldn't change their lifestyle but we have to do something for them. This was a rare chance for me to listen to the people who live in the village on the actual spot. This was a good experience for me. We can't do such programs in Japan, so I want you to continue it. I can't understand Bengal but I had a great time thanks to your kindness. I'll report about Bangladesh in Japan, not only to YEH members, but also to the general public through some participation events. Thank you!! |
